Fires Burning

Add warmth and ambiance to
the great outdoors this fall.

Outdoor fireplaces, fire pits and chimeneas are more popular than ever this fall as the promise of the coming cool weather begins to set in. And because outdoor fire circles are so popular, they’re becoming more stylish and mainstream in outdoor living spaces of area homes. More sophisticated entertainment areas have replaced traditional concrete slabs where lawn furniture and grills were once housed. From hiring designers to build customized fireplaces to purchasing portable models or simple fire pits and chimeneas, many San Antonians are scaling up their outdoor living areas this fall and are more than eager to keep the home fires burning.

Despite periods of intense heat or torrents of rain this summer, local residents clearly enjoyed spending time in their backyards this summer. Today customized patios and decks come complete with outdoor kitchens and fireplaces or fire pits for the cooler months when being outside is more pleasant.

“We build distinctive homes with a lot of exterior features so there is a focal point outside,” says Adam Wilson, division president of Mercedes Homes. “We’re finding a shift to more standardized fireplaces and elaborate outdoor living areas.”
