Take the fun outdoors!

It used to be that, in summer, folks would sit on the front porch – a southeast breeze wafting over them. Kids played in the yard, catching fireflies or running “red light-green light.”
Then came air conditioning and television in the 1950’s. Inside we went. But these days it’s inside out! Outdoor living has returned, complete with outdoor kitchens, pools, sports decks, ceiling fans and gazebos. What a difference a half century makes!
“Outdoor living spaces are a huge trend. Huge!” says an enthusiastic interior designer, Sandy Ray. “It’s absolutely the in thing to do.”
The reasons for the outdoor living trend are multiple, believes Ray. “There’s a shift to entertaining outside, and now a wide range of products is available, from outdoor rugs and fabrics to entire kitchens. And I wouldn’t consider that there is any limitation in building and developing an outdoor space because, with so many outdoor products available, you can make your outdoors look just like your indoors.”
