High-rise luxury in
downtown San Antonio

The 12-story La Cascada features 48 condominiums within walking distance to central downtown entertainment and dining venues. Amenities are numerous and include a rooftop pool and spa, fitness center, business center and multiple balconies.

Just under 3,000 square feet, Bradfield’s space has an open feel and readily avoids the claustrophobia that can plague urban residences. Panoramic views south and east toward historic areas of the city contribute to the home’s spacious feel.

Stained concrete floors were Bradfield’s choice although they’re not the norm for the condos, he declares, mentioning a dislike of carpeting and rugs. The look works well with his expansive and eclectic furniture and art collection. Interestingly, although Bradfield’s home holds a significant number of large furnishings and art objects, a serene minimalist ambiance prevails.

Greeting the visitor at the entrance is an almost life-sized wooden figure. South American in origin, it sits in a chair adjacent to an ivory-inlaid Italian writing desk. The worn, circa-1800, puppet-like figure was most likely used in religious or celebratory parades or marches, notes Bradfield.

An entry alcove serves as a bar and holds two wine refrigerators. Anchoring the space is Bradfield’s former desk — an exquisite roll-top now holding an inviting array of potent potables.

“I did not want to put the desk in a warehouse or sell it, so I turned it into a bar,” he explains. Above is one of numerous paintings throughout the home by noted San Antonio artist Randy Peyton.
